  • Promotes consciousness, intelligence, and emotional expression;
  • Improves mental health.

It is for children from 4 to 7 years /Age /, from preschool in kindergarten to the 2nd year of elementary school at school.

It is the only kindergarten program that explains emotions to children through videos. It also has songs, suggestions for debate among adults of children, and manual activities of emotional education to print at home.

The characters in the videos are puppets and the main character is Surfeel.

Each session takes between 15 and 45 minutes to to complete. All content is "online". Psychologists can use Surfeel in a autonomous, flexible and at its own pace.

Who implements the program?
The program is implemented by psychologists, teachers or educators at school. We do not implement the program because children develop their emotional intelligence better when they learn from people who are closest.

Does the program cover the curriculum of schools?

Yes. We crossed the romeo with the curriculum in the Student profile to exit mandatory education And our program works 4 of the 10 areas of skills referred to:

  • Interpersonal Relationship ("Recognize, express and manage emotions, build relationships", page 25)
  • Personal development and autonomy ("establish relationships between knowledge, emotions and behaviors", page 26)
  • Welfare, Health and Environment ("Relations with Society; Responsibility social, page 27)
  • Body awareness and mastery ("Be aware of yourself at the emotional level in order to establish with yourself and with others a harmonious and healthy relationship", page 30)

We also crossed with the Health Education Referential And Surfeel contributes to two themes ("Mental Health and Violence Prevention" and "Affections and Education for Sexuality"), two sub-themes ("emotions" and "affective relationships"), in 5 Objectives:

  • "Develop self -knowledge in its emotional dimension" (p. 19)
  • "Develop emotional literacy" (p. 19)
  • "Recognize the importance of affections in individual development" (p. 75)
  • "Recognize the importance of interpersonal relationships" (p. 75)
  • "Value the cooperation and interaction relations" (p. 75)

You can load in the names above to see the original documents with underlined parts to which Surfeel contributes.

Is the cost per child, by class or by school?

In the case of annual subscription with educational kit, our prices are by grouping or private school and cover all interested teachers. Children's parents have free access, offered by the school or the City Council.

In other cases, prices are "user", which is an account associated with an "email" and mobile phone number. For example, a psychologist can use Surfeel at home with children, at school with students, and at the clinic in consultation with clients.

Registration is free and gives access to 1 episode without payment. For the complete program with 18 sessions, visit the page plans.

Can I try it for free?

Yes you can. We are so confident that you will like the program that has a free session forever and just register here. If you want more sessions, we propose a free and free pilot project, where for two weeks they will have access to part of our digital content. To this end, we ask that they collect contacts from the people who will implement, choose a start date, and send us this information by email.

How long does each session last?

Each session consists of a video, a song, a choreography for the song, a debate on emotions and a manual activity. Some sessions also have a true story.

In the 1st cycle, sessions usually last 45 minutes to 1 hour. In preschool, educators often divide the session into 2, one with video, song and conversation (the educators stop the video several times to talk), and another session with manual activity only (children take more time to make thematerial of the day).

How to access your content or your material?

Our contents are entirely "online" on our "site". Parents, educators or teachers can access videos by streaming and unload activities to print the home or at school. If you want to use without internet access, you can purchase The complete package with DVDs.

Does each father, teacher or educator have to give their data to access the contents?

Yes, access to content is entirely "online" by our "site" through an account, which requires an electronic address ("email") or a telephone number.

Does each session have guidelines for their implementation with children?

Yes and no. Many educators say the program is so simple that no implementation guidelines are needed, others like the flexibility to implement as they understand depending on the circumstances.

However, many educators implement each session as follows:

  • They make a call in which students, instead of "gift", respond with the emotion they are feeling (2-3 minutes);
  • Show the video (5-10 minutes);
  • They ask children what was the secret of Surfeel (1-2 minutes);
  • They pass the song again for the children to sing (2-3 minutes);
  • invent a choreography for the song and do the dance (5-10 minutes);
  • They ask children the questions in the debate about emotions and talk about the secret (5-10 minutes);
  • Read the true story (when available);
  • They do the manual activity (20-30 minutes).

These guidelines are valid for all sessions, which have all the same structure.

The debate on emotions has more specific guidelines for each day of the program, with questions to ask children and reflect. You can see an example of the first session here.

Do teachers and educators need some training?

Yes the annual plan Includes training on 6 -hour emotions for teachers and educators;Psychologists can use these 6 hours as training or as follow -up and consulting.

If they do not want training, they can acquire the monthly plan, which does not require training.

How can I pay and receive the material?

If you decide to purchase the full program, you can pay by card, direct debit or bank transfer, and you will receive an invoice. If you need the Budget/Order/Invoice/Payment/Receipt Cycle, the minimum amount is $ 200 + VAT. If you want a lower value, you can: (1) buy through the site and request a refund;(2) Make a "screen capture" with the date and attach to your financing request (in this case the budget is valid for 30 days and does not include VAT);(3) add more materials from the catalog, or several copies, to reach the least.

How can you see these episodes help us?

The episodes themselves can help children in "emotional literacy", that is, to have words to realize what they feel. For example, children learn that we have four basic emotions (fear, sadness, anger and joy), and that all emotions are good and important.

Surfeel magic happens when children follow the program with important adults in their lives, for example family members or educators, because human relations are the basis of emotional intelligence. Thanks to the program, children and grown up have a common language to speak of emotions. The growners perceive abstract concepts such as emotions and feelings;Children like concrete stories;Our videos make the bridge between the two. We show children's daily situations and give adults and children concrete words and tangible stories to talk about problems, develop emotional intelligence, and experience different behavior.

An example of this magic is this true story of episode 3, in which Alice teaches that emotions are provoked by thoughts and events:

Once upon a time there was an 8 year old girl who was sometimes afraid of the dark. He was afraid especially when his mother at night asked him to get something in another division. The problem was that with the lights off, she thought she could be there a thief . . . After seeing episode 3 and with her mother's help, she realized she was afraid of an event: the lights off. So it decided to change the event. By turning on the lights, I saw that there was no thief and was going to get the things her mother asked without being afraid.

A few weeks later, it was realized that the cause of fear was actually a thought. If the girl thought she was a thief in the dark, she was afraid. If I didn't think there was a thief, I was not afraid. He realized that fear came from an imaginary danger and that when choosing what to think, he could not be afraid and be happier. So she decided not to think there was a thief. Since that day, she began to cross the house in the dark without having to light the light and without being afraid!

Is the program original?
Yes. Was born during the pandemic in 2020 to respond to the difficulties that children around us, children and nephews confined at home, had to deal with their Emotions. The argument is written by Joana Castiliano and Miguel Morin from the His experience with children and his passion for well told stories. A series connection with the United Kingdom comes from Miguel, who lived there for 5 years. It was there that he arranged the puppets and made a test episode in English (which can see In the English version of the site).

Is the program only for 4-7 year olds.

We made the program for the 4th to 7 years /Age / and did many tests of the scripts and videos with children of this age. However, it also works for other ages:

  • 3 years or less: we suggest putting The Songs playing or unloading them (when passing from session 14) and singing with the children without a screen. (Both options require enrollment. ) The songs contain the main messages of the science of emotions in a fun way.
  • 8-17 years: Families report that teenagers find the puppets and songs too childish for them, but also learn a lot when they hear "the ride" of the younger brothers. One strategy in schools is the class to see Surfeel to present the smaller children.
  • 18 years or more: many adults and parents report that they themselves learn about their emotions thanks to the program, saying that "this course is done to me. "Adults can apply for the program even without children.

Who are the characters?
The Puppet CompanyThe puppets come from The Puppet Company Ltd ®, which we recommend following on social networks at:

We used six Puppet Company puppets, which we called the fantastics, and developed characters for each of them. By order of appearance:

Surfeel

O Surfeel It is empathic and realizes what others are feeling. His characteristic is that every time he meets someone, he begins the conversation with the question "How do you feel. "It has confidence and likes adventure.

Alice

A Alice He is a scientist with a practical spirit. It has a slightly dispatched and accepted personality. It is organized to perfectionism and is very fond of sport.

Leo

O Leo He is an engineer and very intellectual. It is a little back in emotional and relational intelligence and has little empathy. You think everything is in the books but then sometimes it doesn't work. When I wanted to learn to swim, he read five books before entering the pool.

Emma

A Emma It's fun, likes jokes and doing new things. It is a little "silly of the court". It is usually well-disclaimed and has things messed up and disorganized. Prefer to have pleasant emotions and don't know what to do with unpleasant emotions, for example, panicked when someone cries. It has a "black-or-white" thought: you think if we have an unpleasant emotion the day is damaged and is no longer happy. He is a dreamer, lives for pleasure and to enjoy. Waste time planning and dreaming, but ends up not realizing it.

Oscar

O Oscar It is a toucan bird that spends vacation in Brazil. It's exotic, likes to play soccer. Sometimes you feel different from others because it's a bird. Sometimes it has Brazilian expressions.

Junior

O Junior It has an obsession with superheroes and wants to be one of them. He walks with a sale in his eyes and a cover. I would like to fly.

Our customers are families with children between 4 and 7 years, as well as private and public schools with 1st cycle.

What is your vision and mission?

Our view is from a better world, where today's children are the leaders of tomorrow and have high emotional intelligence and the qualities of character that hence stem: teamwork, courage, honesty, empathy, resilience, Gratitude, and social and environmental conscience.

To get there, our mission is to teach children how to recognize what they feel, realize reason and get what they need;and also help parents and teachers create a space to talk about emotions with your children.

Our first objective is the happiness of children.

Why are they on Facebook?

We use Facebook to promote interesting news and articles. But the content From the series is only available on our page and not on Facebook.

What personal data keep?

We only keep data that enhances our mission to create an impact with an educational program. We have decided to have few or no data that can be stolen to minimize damage in case of cybership.

We keep your email because it allows us to communicate with you about your account and your use of our contents. We also asked the number of children who will use the program because it allows us to measure the impact of our work, but this question is optional. You can always delete your personal data at the end of the content list ("close account") or loading on the connection to the effect on each automatic "email" of Surfeel.

Do you use passwords. What is a unique code?

To our and your security, we stop using passion words. When passwords are complicated, users forget and ask for a new one by "email. "When passwords are simple, users use it on multiple sites. We thought that giving access to Surfeel content was not worth the risk of having a cyber-attack where we lose the same password a user uses in his bank account.

To make Surfeel safer, when you want to enter the site, we send a "unique code" (called "One-Time Password") to your mobile phone. It is similar to the code you receive on the phone to validate a bank transaction.

If you use Surfeel on multiple devices, such as telephone and computer, you need a unique code for each. Then the device remembers our site for three months;If you use our site every month on a device, you will not need more unique codes for this device.

What is Zip?
An zip file is a file of several files in one, as if it were a large box with several boxes inside. The internet does not allow you to discharge multiple files at once, such as all songs or all activities. So we put together all these files in a zip file, which is a file and this one can discharge at once. To learn more about dealing with zip files, for example how to open or extract the files inside, you can see this Wikihow in Portuguese.

Why the name "Emotional Athletics"?

The project started in the pandemic in 2020. We saw the children around us with emotions around the red, irritated, sad unknowingly. We decided to condense everything we had learned about emotions and teach the next generation.

At the same time, the news came out that the Olympic Games would be canceled for the first time in peacetime. We initially imagined the project as a substitute where children would see our videos instead of the television broadcasts of the games. It would be the "Olympic Games of Emotions", but as the International Olympic Committee is not very protective of the name "Olympic", we changed "emotional athletics. "

However, the project grew, came to many children, and we realized that "emotional athletics" was complicated to memorize and say and that children simply called "Surfeel. "They said, for example, "you have to see Surfeel. "They identified the project with the character, and we decided to take advantage of the children's help in promoting the project and we exchanged all the names "Emotional Athletics" to "Surfeel" (except in video credits, which once finalized are difficult to change).
